Would you like to learn how to knit in two (or more) colors, or maybe just practice your colorwork knitting in the company of others? Join us at our new library Knit Along where we’ll be learning the basic techniques of stranded colorwork (holding the yarn, achieving proper tension, reading a chart, and more) while knitting a great new winter hat.
We’ve found two patterns that offer a good introduction to stranded colorwork: The Basic Norwegian Star Hat (free on Ravelry) and the Clayoquot Toque (free on the TinCan Knits website). Knit one of these OR choose your own colorwork hat pattern. Not sure what to knit, or what counts as stranded colorwork? Our first meeting will be spent on project planning and we can help you choose an appropriate pattern then.
Please note that this is not a beginning knitting program. To participate in the Knit Along, you should know how to cast on and bind off, knit and purl, and knit in the round, on either DPNs or circular needles.
The Knit Along will meet four Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. When you register for the first session you are registering for all four sessions.
February 21, March 6 and 27, and April 3.
Participants are responsible for providing their own yarn, needles, and other materials required to complete their projects.
If you have questions about picking an appropriate pattern, please contact either Dain (dfrisby-dart@veronapubliclibrary.org) or Erin (eaugspurger@veronapubliclibrary.org)
